Web design is the skill of creating presentations of content (usually hypertext or hypermedia) that is delivered to an end-user through the World Wide Web, by way of a Web browser or other Web-enabled software like Internet television clients, microblogging clients and RSS readers.

The intent of web design[1] is to create a web site—a collection of electronic files that reside on a web server/servers and present content and interactive features/interfaces to the end user in form of Web pages once requested. Such elements as text, bit-mapped images (GIFs, JPEGs), forms can be placed on the page using HTML/XHTML/XML tags. Displaying more complex media (vector graphics, animations, videos, sounds) requires plug-ins such as Flash, QuickTime, Java run-time environment, etc. Plug-ins are also embedded into web page by using HTML/XHTML tags.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. Typically, the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines.

One of the newer buzzwords floating around the real estate conferences and blogosphere regarding real estate marketing is hyperlocalization. You’ll be hard-pressed to find any sort of consensus on the definition of hyperlocalization. In short, hyperlocalization is an attempt to systematize what so many Realtors have already been doing via personal blogs and social media. By posting relevant content about your marketing farm area, you are creating hyperlocalized destinations for search engines to point web users seeking content about their immediate environs.

How does hyperlocalization benefit you as a real estate professional? It’s your opportunity to become the subject matter expert (SME) for your farm area. In doing so, potential homebuyers and sellers can be captured inside the net of content you cast out into the wider web.

How do you cast a wider net? Be sure that your website content, blog posts, and social media links include community information, market statistic, and listing content from which search engines and web users can be directed to your real estate website lead capture system. As a YourMLSsearch.com customer, you are hopefully already taking advantage of our numerous products and services that accomplish this goal. If you’d like more information about what’s available to you as one of our customers, please contact us.
